Report: Byrd return to Bills still possible (1:44 PM)
Buffalo Bills Blogs - Chris Brown: While there have been multiple reports that there will be interest in Bills free agent safety Jairus Byrd, the latest report is that in no way have the Bills been ruled out of the running for the Pro Bowl safety’s services. That according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapaport. Would be really surprised if #Redskins were in […]

Lions tender running back Joique Bell, later receives 3-year, $9.3 million extension (1:14 PM)
Yahoo! Sports: The Detroit Lions made a splash in free agency last year by signing running back Reggie Bush. Detroit’s signing of running back Joique Bell prior to the start of free agency of Tuesday may not grab headlines, but it is the first important signing by first-year coach Jim Caldwell. Bell agreed to a three-year deal contract extension worth $9.3 million ($4.3 million guaranteed), according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. Joique Bell has agreed to 3-year, $9.3m extension w/ $4.3m guaranteed. That's more in gtd money, officially, then Lions have Reggie Bush — Dave Birkett (@davebirkett) March 11, 2014 Bush received a four-year deal worth $16 million ($4 million signing bonus) as a free agent in 2013. Bell's contract reflects how much confidence the organization has in him. Detroit placed a second-round tender on Bell, a restricted free agent, before free agency began, which gave him $2.187 million in 2014. There is a reason why Detroit was determined to retain Bell. Last season, Bell rushed for 650 yards and eight touchdowns, plus had 53 passes for 547 yards. Bell has 1,064 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns, and 1,032 receiving yards, over the past two seasons. Bell, a former Wayne State standout, was signed by the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2010. He was a member of the Philadelphia Eagles (twice), Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints before he was signed by the Detroit Lions late in 2011. The re-signing of Bell gives quarterback Matthew Stafford another solid weapon, which makes Detroit’s biggest offensive need a receiver who can take advantage of the attention Calvin Johnson receives. - - - - - - - Anwar S Richardson is a writer for Shutdown Corner on Yahoo Sports. Bears not necessarily 'losers' after missing out on Bennett (5:26 PM)
Yahoo! Sports: Michael Bennett, who re-signed with the Seattle Seahawks (which was not a surprising move), was the class of the pass-rush class for 2014. But sometimes the best deals in life are ones not made, and Bennett may turn out to be just that for the Bears. Bennetts ranking does not automatically place him in the price-is-no-object class that Julius Peppers once occupied. Bennett netted 8.5 sacks last season as a role player, taking 617 snaps in a versatile defense similar to what the Bears will run in 2014, playing both left end and inside.
Chiefs expected to be much quieter in free agency (5:14 PM)
Yahoo! Sports: When general manager John Dorsey and coach Andy Reid were hired by the Chiefs last year, they knew that there would be plenty of turnover on a roster that produced just two wins. So, they predictably made a splash - the kind you make doing a cannonball off the high diving board - in free agency, signing veterans such as Sean Smith and Dunta Robinson, picking up role players such as offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz and giving everything a fairly thorough overhaul. The downside of all that maneuvering is that now the team is starved for cash, and with free agency starting Tuesday, the Chiefs are looking at a much more modest splash. The priorities are interior offensive line, where Schwartz and Jon Asamoah are due to hit free agency, along with wide receiver and free safety.

Yahoo! Sports: (Reuters) - Strategic maneuvering for next season's Super Bowl campaign gets underway in earnest on Tuesday when the National Football League's free agent signing period kicks into action. Over 100 players populate a free agent class that includes proven veterans and Pro Bowl players in their prime, who may have cheaper, younger players ready to step in for them on their former teams. Free agent wide receivers include two players showcased in last month's Super Bowl in Golden Tate of the champion Seattle Seahawks and Eric Decker of the runner-up Denver Broncos. Also on the list are Emmanuel Sanders of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Julian Edelman of the New England Patriots and Hakeem Nicks of the New York Giants.

Click here for the list of offensive players , and click here for the list of defensive and special teams players ] Revisiting 2013: For some reason the attitude about the Broncos after the 2013 season is they need major work this offseason. That's ridiculous. Sure, they went up against a better Seattle team in the Super Bowl and got destroyed. But this is still a team that has been the top seed in the AFC in back-to-back years and might be a Joe Flacco-to-Jacoby Jones miracle from two Super Bowl appearances with Peyton Manning. Manning won another MVP award last season as he set records for passing yards and passing touchdowns in a season, Denver had the highest scoring offense in NFL history and won an AFC championship. They're just fine. And remember, they went 13-3 mostly without ....

2014 NFL Mock Draft: Manziel still on top? (11:40 AM)
Yahoo! Sports: If they stay at the top of the draft, it might just be too hard of a choice to pass up on Johnny Manziel. He had an impressive outing at the combine, and his local roots make him the obvious choice for Houston with the first pick. There's more than a chance they decide to draft Jadeveon Clowney, but after all the rumblings about drafting a top-tier quarterback, it may prove a hard sell a fan base that seems overly enticed at the chance to call Johnny Football a Houston Texan. The combine was cruel to Jake Matthews, he didn't do anything to hurt his stock, and by all accounts should still be one of the top players taken... but man, how great did Greg Robinson look?
